POP!..The Question!
Creative Ways to Sweep Her Off Her Feet
Guys with marriage on their minds are quite creative. Unbelievably creative, in fact. These days, grooms-to-be really get excited about planning a big surprise for the proposal.
We have heard many sweet, sensitive, romantic, and even crazy proposals. Here are some ideas to consider as you get ready to pop the biggest question of your life!
P.D.A.
There are several public ways to let the world and your intended know you want to spend the rest of your life with them. While it's not for everyone, public displays of affection and public declarations of undying devotion go a long way with most women, probably because guys typically don't like to talk about how they feel. Go public with your love to let your future bride and the rest of the world know exactly how you feel! Here are a few ideas.
1. Take out a classified ad in a section of the paper you know she will read. You can start with the phrase, 'Wanted.'
2. Take out a billboard on the route she drives each day.
3. Take out an ad in a local publication that she would be sure to read. Have your photo taken in a tux and use a catchy slogan to let her know she's the one.
4. Ask your local movie theater or other entertainment facility to use the marquee and put your profession of love in lights like a movie title: Tonight's Special Feature Julie Beckham and Todd Martin Starring in 'A Marriage Made in Heaven'
5. Go to a ball game. They allow advertisements on the big screen. Take out an ad that reads: 'Julie will you marry me?' Be ready on bended knee as she realizes that she is the Julie in question.
6. Organize the "pop" at a concert or show. Everyone loves love. The stage manager or event organizer may allow you to pop the question at an opportune moment.
7. Instead of 'Just Married', decorate your car with 'Just Want to Get Married. Julie, will you marry me? Please say yes.' and other words of love. Tie old shoes on the bumper, etc. Then show up for a date with roses, champagne, and the ring. Organize it all in advance with family and friends so her reaction is on videotape. Drive around town to the honks and cheers of well wishers.
8. At the beach, hire one of the airplanes that pull sky ads to fly your banner of love against a beautiful sunset. Have a beach blanket set up with champagne on ice, flowers, candles, and other romantic touches. Wait for the plane to pass by to pop the question.
9. Have a messenger show up at a favorite local restaurant with 'A telegram for Ms. Beckham.' Then have the messenger read a special note out loud for all to hear as you drop to one knee with the ring in hand.
Private Matters
If you aren't the public type, there are several private ways to say 'I love you' that are equally significant and touching.
* Remember treasure hunts? Write out little clues on note cards and leave them around the house. The first one leads to the second, etc. The final note should lead her to you, waiting on one knee with the ring.
* Get home from work early and prepare a fantastic dinner for two on the deck, patio, rooftop of your building, or any special place. An inside picnic in front of the fireplace is romantic if it is too cold to go outside. If you aren't the best chef, try a grocery store that offers pre-prepared dishes. Just pop it in the oven and place it in a lovely serving dish. If that is too much to handle, just get take away from your favorite place and serve in some of your own serving pieces. Put a fantastic wine or champagne on ice and set a beautiful table with candles and flowers. Leave a note inviting her to join you on the roof or in your special spot. When she arrives, have your favorite song playing, the candles lit, and stand waiting for your bride-to-be with ring in hand.
* Breakfast is not terribly romantic and few women would expect a proposal over a bowl of cereal. So if you think she is on to you and expecting you to pop the question, you can completely catch her off guard at the breakfast table. Put the ring box inside a box of her favorite cereal and wait for her to pour it into her bowl. Then, sweep her away to a special brunch in a waiting limo where the mimosas have been chilled.
* Make a video and profess your undying love. On a seemingly typical stay at home movie night, pop in your video instead of the rental she is expecting. You will want to make sure the tissue is near as the tears start to flow.
Whether your proposal is a public or private affair, she will never forget the day you asked her to be your wife.
